The task in mind was to design a simple, universal Pan mechanism that can be attached to multiple systems using the same connection. It is controlled by a single operator from a close distance.

 

This is a relatively simple product. We had constraints of maximum volume for the system, which required use of unique gears in order to stay as small as possible. We used a VEX versaplanetary gearbox with a single bag motor, rotating a bevel 45 degree gear.

 

This creates a small package as required. The second bevel gear rotates a shaft that enables the entire housing to move around the base. Various mechanisms are attached to the block using a ¼’’ bolt. The user moves the mechanism with a simpel 2 direction joystick, with a simple 12VDC circuit.
